Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has argued that the  National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2020 policy document that seeks to extend Free SHS policy to private schools in deprived areas  is unconstitutional according to the laws of the land.

Speaking on kumasi base Angel FM monitored by ghgossip.com ,the majority leader used article 25 of Ghana’s 1992 constitution to reference his statement.

“If you say that you will fund private schools with government money, it offends the constitution; the Article 25 is an entrenched provision, so if you want to change it, you must conduct a referendum according to the constitution; so I get worried listening to him at times and wonder if he would want to abide by the constitution or not”, he said.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has promised to extend the free “SHS”policy to private schools in deprived areas during the launch of their 2020 manifesto.
