Ga Mantse Unveils Plans to Boost Accra's 24-Hour Economy
Ga Mantse Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has led a high-level investment mission to secure strategic partnerships in support of Ghana's 24 Hour Economy agenda. The mission, which included business leaders and investors from the United States and the United Kingdom, aimed to explore investment opportunities in healthcare, energy, finance, and cocoa value addition.
Ga Mantse Secures Investment for Healthcare Infrastructure
The mission has resulted in agreements for the construction of a 500-bed specialist children's hospital and a 24-hour pharmacy facility at Korle Bu. The project is expected to strengthen Ghana's healthcare infrastructure, improve access to quality medical services, and support the government's vision of expanding healthcare delivery while creating hundreds of direct and indirect jobs. The Ga Mantse's efforts to leverage international partnerships will help to attract investments capable of transforming key sectors of the economy.
Investing in Ghana's Cocoa Industry
The delegation also visited the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), where they met Chief Executive Dr Ransford 'Randy' Abbey, who outlined ongoing reforms to revitalise Ghana's cocoa industry through domestic financing, increased local processing, and value addition. The reforms align closely with the government's industrialisation agenda and efforts to maximise returns from Ghana's cocoa sector. By increasing local processing, Ghana aims to export more finished cocoa products instead of raw beans, thereby creating greater value, more jobs, and higher export earnings.
Energy and Finance: Key Sectors for Investment
The investors also visited the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), where discussions focused on the future of Ghana's energy sector, petroleum refining, and strategic investment opportunities to improve domestic fuel production and reduce dependence on imported refined products. At the Bank of Ghana, discussions centred on Ghana's macroeconomic outlook, financial sector stability, and the country's commitment to providing a secure environment for international investment. The visit offered investors insights into Ghana's monetary policy direction and ongoing economic recovery efforts.
A New Era for Ghana's 24-Hour Economy
The investment mission highlights the growing role traditional leadership can play in complementing government efforts to attract foreign direct investment. By leveraging his international networks, the Ga Mantse continues to position Greater Accra and Ghana as competitive destinations for global capital. With investment commitments beginning to materialise, including the planned Korle Bu hospital project, the mission marks another significant step towards translating strategic partnerships into tangible national development.
