Ghana EXIM Bank Turns Hogbe Park into State-of-the-Art Astro Turf Facility

The Ghana Export-Import Bank (Ghana EXIMBank) has unveiled a brand-new state-of-the-art astro turf facility at Hogbe Park in Anloga, a significant upgrade from the park's previous condition. The facility, named the Awoamefia Togbi Sri III Astro Turf Park, was commissioned in a ceremony attended by traditional leaders, government officials, and residents.

Ghana EXIMBank's Commitment to Community Development

The bank's Chief Executive, Sylvester Adinam Mensah, highlighted the importance of the project, citing Hogbe Park's place in the community's memory. "Hogbe Park has a place in the memory of this community. It has hosted games, events, and gatherings over many years," he explained. However, the facility's condition had deteriorated to the point where it could no longer support competitive football or structured sporting activity.

Anloga's Vibrant Sporting Culture and Talent Base

The proposal to install an astro turf surface was driven by Anloga's vibrant sporting culture and talent base. As Mr. Mensah noted, "The proposal to install an astro turf surface came with a clear case: Anloga has the population, the sporting culture, and the talent. What was missing was the infrastructure." Ghana EXIMBank assessed the case and provided financing under its mandate to support investment that generates economic and social returns for Ghanaians.

A State-of-the-Art Facility for League Matches and Tournaments

The new facility is built to international standards and will host league matches, tournaments, training programs, and school competitions year-round. To ensure sustainability, a management committee was also inaugurated, comprising members from the Anlo Traditional Council, Anlo Municipal Assembly, youth groups, and other stakeholders. This committee will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the facility.

Credit to Togbi Sri III for Championing the Project

Mr. Mensah credited Togbi Sri III for his pivotal role in identifying the need and driving the completion of the project. Togbi Sri III expressed heartfelt appreciation for the bank's support, stating, "This astro turf park is more than a facility; it is an investment in our youth and the future of Anloga. We are grateful to Ghana EXIMBank for supporting the aspirations of the Anlo people."

A Modern Venue for Community Events

The project, delivered as part of Ghana EXIMBank's 10th anniversary CSR initiatives, is expected to transform sports development in Anloga while providing a modern venue for community events. The facility will serve as a hub for community activities, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose among residents. As the new facility takes shape, it is clear that the impact will be felt for years to come.
