Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has called on universities across the country to step up their game in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). She made the call at the 15th Graduation Ceremony of KAAF University.
Universities Urged to Embrace AI
Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has urged universities across the country to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) by integrating digital literacy and emerging technologies into their academic programmes where necessary. This, she believes, will equip graduates with the knowledge and skills required to navigate an increasingly technology-driven environment.
The Vice President encouraged the management of KAAF University to take advantage of Ghana's National Artificial Intelligence Strategy to equip graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
Interdisciplinary Research and Entrepreneurship
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also called on universities to promote interdisciplinary research, support technology-based entrepreneurship, and equip graduates to use Artificial Intelligence responsibly. This, she said, will help produce graduates equipped with the knowledge, values, and practical skills needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
She praised KAAF University for demonstrating its commitment to producing graduates equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
"Teacher Dabre" Initiative
The Vice President also highlighted the "Teacher Dabre" initiative, which seeks to provide decent accommodation for teachers and address housing challenges, particularly for educators posted to rural communities. She said providing decent accommodation for teachers would help ensure that postings to rural communities do not become an additional hardship for educators.
Chancellor's Plea for Government Support
Chancellor of KAAF University, Michael Aidoo, has appealed to the government to extend the 'No Fees Stress' initiative to students in private tertiary institutions. He stressed that students attending private institutions are also Ghanaians and deserve government support.
