A nurse at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) was allegedly assaulted by Michael Blackson's sister during a dispute over access to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where Blackson's mother was receiving treatment. The incident has been reported to the police and is currently being handled by law enforcement.

Investigation Launched into UGMC ICU Dispute

The UGMC Director of Medical Affairs, Dr Baffour Gyan, explained that the nurse was preventing Blackson's sister from entering the ICU because of established ICU protocols. "In ICU, there are protocols. You can't just come in anytime because you want to see your mother," Dr Gyan said.

According to Dr Gyan, the disagreement escalated and the nurse was allegedly slapped during the confrontation. The hospital maintains that restrictions on access to the unit were based on established safety and infection-control protocols.
