The battle for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary ticket in Nandom has taken a dramatic turn with four contenders joining the 2028 polls.
The seat is currently held by Dr Richard Kuuire of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Legal practitioner Sylvester Isang, former Interior Minister Ambrose Dery, social development consultant Alois Kog Kyaakpier Mohl, and former Chief Executive Officer of defunct microfinance company DKM Microfinance, Martin Dikumwine Delle, have all declared their intention to contest the 2028 primaries.
The contest is now shaping up as one of the most competitive in the Upper West Region ahead of the 2028 elections.
Lawyer Sylvester Isang's Experience and Urgency
Lawyer Sylvester Isang said his bid is about experience and urgency. "Come January 2027, I will turn 50 years… I would just have 10 years to attain the public mandatory retirement age of 60. So the time is now," he declared.
Isang drew on his humble roots, from brewing pito with his mother to paying his Senior High School fees through farm work.
Former Interior Minister Ambrose Dery Returns to Politics
Former Interior Minister Ambrose Dery announced his comeback on Nandom FM on August 11. "I've heard the call. I've prayed about it. I've agreed that I will put myself forward," he said.
Dery attributed his past achievements to the power of the Almighty. "Any good thing Nandom people say I've done is not by my strength. It's by the power of the Almighty."
Alois Kog Kyaakpier Mohl and Martin Dikumwine Delle Join the Contest
Social development consultant Alois Kog Kyaakpier Mohl, who was disqualified from the 2024 primaries, is now seeking a second shot. He told sources that his decision to contest is non-negotiable and that he will formally declare his intention before the end of the month.
Martin Dikumwine Delle, former Chief Executive Officer of the defunct DKM Microfinance Company, declared his intention on Facebook on August 12, 2026, becoming the fourth entrant in the race.
