The Telecel Ghana CEO has urged mining industry leaders to invest in an agile, tech-ready workforce to drive sustainable digital growth.

"Technology has never transformed an organisation on its own," Telecel Ghana chief executive Patricia Obo-Nai told mining industry executives in Accra. "It is people who transform organisations using technology."

Speaking as the special guest of honour at The Palms by Eagles, Obo-Nai urged Ghana’s mining sector to rethink its approach to talent development. She said the extractive sector's ability to benefit from artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies will ultimately depend on how quickly its workers acquire new capabilities.

Obo-Nai told conference attendees that companies must change their recruitment strategies to prepare for technological shifts across the industry.

"Rather than hiring people simply for today’s vacancies, organisations must recruit for adaptability, curiosity and learning agility," she said.
