Sumaila Amadu called his brother at 9:00 pm on August 25, 2026, to say his dialysis session at the Tamale Teaching Hospital had started. Less than two hours later, he was dead.
Amadu was 32 years old. He lived with chronic kidney disease and depended on medical treatment twice a week at the hospital’s Renal Clinic to stay alive.
His family says he did not die because his body gave up. They allege he died because the lights went out, shutting off his oxygen supply in the middle of his treatment.
Three phone calls tracked his final hours. His brother, Salman Al Faris, a Ghanaian creative professional and chief executive officer of Brilliance Media GH, answered each call that Tuesday night.
