The official residence of the Techiman Municipal Chief Executive has remained unoccupied since 2017.
Bono East Regional Minister Francis Owusu Antwi has now ordered the Municipal Chief Executive to move into the house by December.
The directive follows years of concern over the state of the property. Substantial public funds were spent to renovate the residence, but no official has lived in it for seven years.
Francis Owusu Antwi set the December deadline to ensure the renovated building does not sit empty any longer. The regional minister wants the local executive to take up residence immediately after the deadline.
The official residence was built to house the chief administrator of the municipal assembly. In Ghana, a Municipal Chief Executive manages local government operations, public works, and administrative services within the municipality.
