A police corporal kicked a moving motorbike carrying a 20-year-old law student during a pursuit on the Tema Motorway, causing a fatal crash into a concrete barrier before riding away without calling for help.

General Corporal Robert Katey Koranteng appeared before the Adabraka District Court in Accra on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Prosecutors charged the 34-year-old officer with murder over the death of Central University law student Ivan Apprey Baidoo.

Koranteng was serving with the Traffic Management Enforcement Unit at the Ghana Police Service Headquarters in Accra when the incident occurred. He faces a charge of unlawfully causing Baidoo’s death, contrary to Section 46 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29
