President John Dramani Mahama will commission an exercise on Friday, September 18, 2026, to clear accumulated waste from Agbogbloshie and haul it 42 kilometres to the Adepa Landfill Site at Nsawam.
The commissioning ceremony is set for 10:00 a.m. at the IRECOP Management Centre at Jamestown in Accra. Mahama is expected to be the Guest of Honour at the ceremony.
The Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development is leading the project. The ministry is working directly with the Ghana Armed Forces to carry out the clearing and transport operations.
Support for the heavy lifting and clearing operations comes through the District Road Improvement Programme, also known as DRIP.
