Seventy-three candidates have been cleared to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ketu South Constituency elections after vetting and balloting processes concluded. The party released an official list confirming that 74 aspirants initially filed nominations, with only one disqualification.
Mr Reginald Edem Zigah is the only candidate cleared to run for the Secretary position, following the disqualification of the incumbent, Mr Desmond Kweku Tsewu. For the Chairman role, four aspirants will appear on the ballot. Mr Amedorme Sylvanus Yao leads the list, followed by Mr Dzila Bright, Mr Kelie Elolo White, and Mr Ahorlu Ferguson Kwabla.
The Vice Chairman position will have three contenders: Mr Sorokpo Daniel Jerry, Mr Awuye John-Mark, and Mr Abelia Seth Kwasi. Two candidates cleared the Deputy Secretary slot: Mr Atisu Napoleon and Mr Agbotey Clemence Kofi, ranked first and second on the ballot, respectively.
Communication Officer hopefuls include Mr Kunya Cornelius Yao and Mr Doe David, while three aspirants each will contest Deputy Communication Officer, Constituency Organizer, and Deputy Organizer positions. The Treasurer race features Mr Sablah Cornelius Kofi, Mr Ahadzi Rocky Selasi, and Ms Mikado Dora Dede.
Other positions with cleared candidates include Deputy Treasurer, Women Organizer, Deputy Women Organizer, Youth Organizer, Deputy Youth Organizer, Other Youth Representative, and Zongo Caucus. The largest group of aspirants contests the eight Other Members slots, with 29 candidates cleared.
The NDC Ketu South Constituency election is scheduled for Friday, October 23, 2026. The date was moved from the original October 24 and 25 to avoid clashing with the final funeral rites of the late Torgbui Addo, Paramount Chief of the Klikor Traditional Area. The party expects 2,963 delegates to vote in the election.
The vetting and balloting results show a competitive field across most positions, especially the Other Members category. The disqualification of the sitting Secretary, Mr Desmond Kweku Tsewu, leaves the position open to a sole candidate, Mr Reginald Edem Zigah.
