Tresoldi nets hat-trick as Club Brugge win Inter thriller

Nicolo Tresoldi scored three times as Club Brugge beat Inter Milan 4-3 in a Champions League match that ended with a late goal from substitute Ange-Yoan Bonny on Wednesday. The result handed Inter their fourth consecutive defeat in the competition, a first in the club’s history.

The scoring began only after half an hour when referee Rohit Saggi awarded a penalty to Club Brugge. Tresoldi stepped up and sent the ball into the top right corner. Inter’s captain Lautaro Martinez equalised just before half-time with his first Champions League goal since November 2025.

Early in the second half, Inter goalkeeper Josep Martinez made a costly error. He rushed out of his goal but missed the ball. Tresoldi capitalised by slotting into an open net for his second goal.

Eleven minutes later, Tresoldi completed his hat-trick. After Martinez saved a shot, Tresoldi pushed the rebound into the bottom corner, putting Club Brugge 3-1 ahead.

Inter pulled one back with under 10 minutes remaining when Martinez scored his second of the night from a loose ball in the box. The Belgian side responded three minutes from time as Romeo Vermant restored their two-goal lead.

The match did not end there. In the 93rd minute, substitute Ange-Yoan Bonny cut in from the left and curled a finish into the far corner to make it 4-3. The late goal sealed a thrilling victory for Club Brugge.

The result adds to Inter Milan’s difficulties in this season’s Champions League, extending a losing streak unseen in the club’s previous campaigns. Tresoldi’s performance stands out as a decisive factor in the Belgian side’s win.
