The Africa Prosperity Network (APN) announced on Friday, October 16, 2026, that the 2027 Africa Prosperity Dialogues (APD) will take place from January 13 to 15, moving the event two weeks earlier than originally planned. The rescheduling brings the Dialogues closer to the African Union Summit, which is set for January 30–31 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
APD 2027 will be hosted at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra, Ghana. The change aims to avoid clashes with African leaders’ commitments and the Executive Council meetings of the African Union scheduled for January 27–28. The APN also cited the approaching Ramadan period, expected to begin on the evening of February 7, as a factor in adjusting the dates.
The event, convened under the patronage of President John Dramani Mahama, brings together political and business leaders from across Africa to discuss practical steps toward free movement, seamless cross-border payments, and increased intra-African trade. The theme this year is “The Africa We Want Is Borderless. Move Freely. Pay Seamlessly. Trade More.”
One anticipated outcome of the Dialogues is the APD Action Compact, a document detailing private-sector priorities and recommendations aimed at advancing Africa’s single market agenda. The Compact is traditionally presented to African heads of state during the AU Summit, linking private-sector input with continental policy decisions.
The timing of the 2027 Dialogues coincides with Ghana preparing to celebrate its 70th independence anniversary on March 6. President Mahama is also expected to be confirmed as Chairperson of the African Union at the forthcoming summit in Ethiopia.
Stanislav Xoese Dogbe, Deputy Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, said the President views APD 2027 as a foundational pillar in what he calls a landmark year for Ghana and Africa. Dogbe added that the Presidency sees the event as an opportunity to build intellectual and policy momentum ahead of the AU Summit.
The APN issued an apology to partners, sponsors, and delegates for any inconvenience caused by the date change, particularly for those who had already made travel arrangements. Participants have been urged to update their calendars and participation plans. The APN Secretariat has committed to assisting with enquiries related to the rescheduling.

The decision to move the Dialogues ahead of the AU Summit positions the event as a final private-sector forum before continental leaders convene in Addis Ababa. This scheduling may affect the tone and priorities of discussions, with the APD Action Compact likely to influence the policy agenda presented to African heads of state.
