Representatives participating in project meetings for the Agbogbloshie market redevelopment received at least GH¢3,000 in transportation allowances for every sitting across a three-month period, according to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.
The details were released by the assembly to counter accusations from the Minority in Parliament regarding a proposed 24-hour market project in the area.
Opposition lawmakers claimed city authorities were discriminating against and targeting members of the Konkomba community who trade at the Agbogbloshie Yam Market.
The Minority stated that assembly officials marked almost every shop and residential structure occupied by Konkomba community members for demolition.
They stated that other sections of the Agbogbloshie market were left untouched by the marking exercise.
