The 7th Ghana Credit Excellence Awards will take place on October 10, 2026, at the Vice Chancellors Complex in Legon, Accra. The event will bring together executives and professionals from universal banks, community banks, microfinance institutions, and debt collection agencies.
Organised by the Chartered Institute of Credit Management Ghana (CICMG), the awards recognise outstanding performance, leadership, and innovation in Ghana’s banking and finance industry. Since its inception, the awards have become a fixture in the financial services calendar.
This year’s ceremony arrives as Ghana’s banking sector faces ongoing challenges from inflationary pressures, exchange-rate volatility, and changing regulations. Despite this, some banks have improved profitability and asset quality, contributing to renewed confidence in the industry.
“The Ghana Credit Excellence Awards is not just about celebration. It is a platform that reinforces the values of sound credit management, ethical leadership and financial inclusion that are critical to Ghana’s economic development,” said Agyapong Amo, Executive Secretary of CICMG.
The awards cover a broad range of categories. The Business Excellence Awards will recognise Bank of the Year, Community Bank of the Year, Microfinance Bank of the Year, Credit Union of the Year, and Debt Collection Agency of the Year.
Brand Excellence Awards will honour trusted institutions in the loans and advances sector, including Community Bank Brand of the Year, Microfinance Bank Brand of the Year, and Microcredit Brand of the Year.
Leadership Awards will spotlight individuals such as Managing Director/CEO of the Year – Bank, Chief Executive Officer of the Year – Community Bank, Chief Executive Officer of the Year – Microfinance Bank, and Woman of Excellence Leadership in Credit of the Year.
The evening will also feature a Lifetime Achievement Award for an individual whose long-term contributions have left a mark on Ghana’s credit and financial sector.
Community banks and microfinance institutions continue to provide financial services to small businesses, farmers, and low-income households, especially in rural areas. Recognising their efforts alongside universal banks reflects the awards’ mission to celebrate excellence throughout Ghana’s financial landscape.
The ceremony will include speeches from figures in Ghana’s financial and regulatory sectors, discussing current developments and challenges. The theme, “Beyond Stabilisation: Building a Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable Financial Sector,” reflects the industry’s focus on consolidating recent progress.
The awards complement CICMG’s role in promoting sound credit management and higher professional standards among practitioners in credit, risk, and financial services.
This event will offer networking opportunities for attendees, combining recognition with industry dialogue. The awards provide a moment for the sector to acknowledge resilience and set standards for a stronger financial system.
The 2026 Ghana Credit Excellence Awards underscore the ongoing efforts to balance growth and inclusion in Ghana’s evolving financial environment.
