Court Order Freezes Assets in Ongoing Probe

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has secured a court order to freeze five bank accounts and four landed properties belonging to Dennis Edward Aboagye, a former executive secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD). The move is part of EOCO’s investigation into alleged misappropriation of funds at the IMCCoD.

The IMCCoD has been at the centre of a corruption probe, with allegations of financial improprieties and procurement irregularities surfacing during Mr Aboagye’s tenure. The agency is probing suspected fraud, theft, and procurement-related irregularities.

Arrest and Investigation Continues

Mr Aboagye was arrested at the Kotoka International Airport on Sunday, July 12, upon his return to Ghana. He was intercepted by immigration officers and handed over to EOCO for questioning before being subsequently released. According to EOCO, investigators moved to arrest Mr Aboagye after uncovering significant new findings in the case.

The Office has maintained that the arrest formed part of its broader probe into the alleged financial improprieties at the IMCCoD. The agency also confirmed the arrest of the committee’s former accountant, Gerald Appiah, as investigations into the alleged loss of public funds continue.

Ongoing Investigations and Future Developments

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) is leading the investigation into the alleged misappropriation of funds at the IMCCoD. The agency has already arrested Mr Aboagye and his former accountant, Gerald Appiah, and is probing suspected fraud, theft, and procurement-related irregularities.

The investigation is ongoing, with EOCO likely to continue its probe into the alleged financial improprieties at the IMCCoD. The outcome of the investigation and any potential consequences for those involved remain to be seen.
