John Boadu says his top priority is to help the New Patriotic Party (NPP) win the 2028 general election, not to focus on longer-term plans like the 2032 agenda. In a statement on Tuesday, September 29, he made clear that rebuilding the party’s structures and restoring confidence among members must come first.
“My focus is victory in 2028. Those with Agenda 2032 can wait,” Boadu said.
Boadu, who once served as the party’s General Secretary, told delegates that experience should guide their choice for the next National Chairman. He asked, “At this critical moment, the NPP must ask one question: who can lead the Party back to victory?” His answer: himself. “I have done it before, and I am ready to do it again.”
He pointed to his work in the 2016 and 2020 elections as proof. In 2016, when many doubted the party’s chances because of internal problems, Boadu worked with members and volunteers to secure victory. In 2020, despite challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic, the party defended its win.
During his time as Acting General Secretary and Director of Operations, Boadu helped introduce systems aimed at improving election readiness. These included the Pink Sheet Tracking System, rapid results collation, nationwide training for trainers and polling agents, and the V16 volunteer-based election-protection structure. He also organised mock elections to test the party’s preparedness.
Other initiatives linked to his leadership include Operation Adopt a Polling Station, Election Day logistics and voter transportation coordination. He oversaw verification of the Electoral Commission’s voter album against party records, strategic retail campaigning in key areas, stronger ballot security, and Operation Eagle Eye.
“I have contested and won elections within the Party, served at the polling-station, constituency and national levels, and helped manage national campaigns,” Boadu said. “I know elections. I know the Party. I know what it takes to win.”
The NPP is set to elect new national officers on Saturday, October 3. Boadu is first on the ballot among four candidates contesting the National Chairman position. He urged delegates to consider experience and knowledge of the party’s structures and election operations when voting.
“On Saturday, 3 October 2026, delegates are not simply electing a National Chairman. They are choosing the experience, institutional knowledge and proven record needed to reposition the Party for 2028,” he said.
Boadu promised to work with party members to rebuild the NPP. “I have walked the road to victory before. Let us walk it again, together,” he said. “Let’s bring back the winning ways of the NPP. Vote John Boadu for National Chairman.”
With the 2028 election less than two years away, Boadu’s focus on immediate results contrasts with other candidates who have promoted longer-term visions. His campaign rests on past achievements and a clear plan to strengthen the party’s election operations.
