Richmond Quarcoo will lead Ghana’s delegation to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles as the Chef de Mission, the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) announced. Quarcoo, a veteran sports administrator and current GOC Board Member, takes charge of preparations and on-site management for the team’s participation in the global event.
In his new role, Quarcoo will coordinate with the Ghana Olympic Committee, national sports federations, athletes, and officials to ensure smooth logistics and athlete welfare throughout the Games. His responsibilities include overseeing Ghana’s entire presence from arrival to competition and departure.
Quarcoo brings years of experience in sports governance and multi-sport event management. He has held leadership roles in several sporting bodies at national, continental, and international levels. His past positions include President of the Ghana Table Tennis Association and Vice President of the Ghana Triathlon Association.
Within the Ghana Olympic Committee, Quarcoo has held the roles of Greater Regional Chairman and Deputy Secretary General. At the continental level, he served as Secretary General of the Squash Federation of Africa and Vice President of the Africa Zone 3 Table Tennis Association.
His Olympic experience runs deep. Quarcoo was Deputy Chef de Mission for Ghana’s teams at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games. These roles gave him direct insight into the demands of managing a national team at the highest level of international sport.
The appointment underlines the Ghana Olympic Committee’s trust in Quarcoo’s ability to handle the complex duties of leading an Olympic delegation. His blend of administrative skills and practical Olympic knowledge positions him well to manage Ghana’s efforts in Los Angeles.
