Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa visited Accra’s VFS Global Visa Application Centre on Monday, October 5, 2026, to assess the quality of services offered to Ghanaian visa applicants. The visit was part of a broader working tour during which he inspected more than 20 embassies and visa application centres in the city.
At VFS Global, the Minister engaged with both staff and applicants, observing the operational processes and customer journey firsthand. The centre outlined its methods for delivering what it described as efficient, secure, and customer-focused visa services.
Following the tour, Ablakwa commended the professionalism of the VFS Global team and the standards maintained at the centre. He said the visit allowed him to engage directly with Ghanaian applicants, giving him a clearer picture of their experiences.
“I must acknowledge that substantial progress has been made by some missions,” the Minister said. He plans to discuss his observations with Heads of Missions in the coming days to explore ways to improve the visa application process.
Ablakwa stressed that the authority to decide who qualifies for visas remains with the diplomatic missions. “I shall not interfere with that; nonetheless, they must take concrete steps to ensure the dignity of Ghanaians is safeguarded,” he added.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry’s tour reflects ongoing efforts to monitor and engage diplomatic missions and visa centres on the quality of service provided to Ghanaian travellers. The Minister’s visit to VFS Global was one stop in a wider review of conditions across the city’s visa application points.
