St Augustine’s College edged out three other top Ghanaian schools to retain the National Investment Quiz trophy in a closely fought 2026 finale. The competition wrapped on a tense note after rounds of rapid-fire financial questions and riddles, with St Augustine’s maintaining their lead just enough to hold off Mfantsipim School, Prempeh College, and Corpus Christi Senior High School.
Mfantsipim took an early lead, scoring 12 points in the opening round. Prempeh College and St Augustine’s, also known as Augusco, followed closely with 10 points apiece. Corpus Christi lagged behind with 5 points. The second round saw a shift as Augusco surged ahead to 19 points, a single point above Mfantsipim, while Prempeh and Corpus Christi trailed with 16 and 11 points respectively.
The competition remained tight throughout the third round. Corpus Christi and Prempeh each scored 13 out of 15, while Mfantsipim and Augusco both recorded 14 points. By the fourth round, Augusco pulled slightly ahead, reaching 40 points. Mfantsipim was at 36, Prempeh 33, and Corpus Christi 23.
The riddle round added drama. All four schools missed the first riddle after buzzing in. Corpus Christi answered the second riddle correctly. Augusco claimed the third and fourth riddles, while Mfantsipim answered the fifth. Despite Mfantsipim’s late rally, Augusco’s consistency across all rounds gave them the edge to retain the trophy.
The APSU Secretariat, which oversees the competition, congratulated St Augustine’s College on their back-to-back victories in 2025 and 2026. In a statement, the Secretariat described the National Investment Quiz as an annual event that builds financial literacy among senior high school students and inspires future leaders in finance, economics, and business.
The Secretariat also praised the contestants, coordinators, Steering Committee, college management, and staff for their efforts. They thanked APSUnians worldwide for their “unflinching support” throughout the competition.
The National Investment Quiz focuses on investment and financial literacy. It tests students’ knowledge of stocks, bonds, and investment fundamentals in a competitive setting. The 2026 contest proved especially challenging, with four leading schools pushing the limits of their understanding.
Augusco’s victory underlines the school’s ongoing emphasis on finance education. The narrow margin in the final round reflected a growing interest and proficiency in investment topics among Ghanaian senior high school students.
The Secretariat described the team’s back-to-back success as a source of pride. The competition continues to draw the country’s top schools, turning financial literacy into a competitive sport.
