A mobile money app
MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash or AirtelTigo Money, depending on your network. It handles sending, receiving, buying airtime and paying bills, and it is how most of the city moves money.
A ride app
Bolt, Uber or Yango for when you do not want to drive or wait for a trotro. Compare the fare across two of them, since prices differ by time and demand.
Your bank’s app
Most banking now happens on the phone: checking your balance, moving money, paying someone. If your bank has a decent app, it saves you the branch queue.
GhanaPost GPS
The national digital address system. It gives your exact location a code that couriers, forms and services ask for, in a city where street signs are thin.
The ECG prepaid app
Buy electricity credit from your phone instead of queuing at a vendor. Check the exact app your area uses, since the provider differs.
Google Maps
Navigation, live traffic and business locations. It is the quickest way to find a place and to judge whether the road ahead is moving.
How the city communicates, from family to businesses that take orders and answer questions there. Many small traders run on it entirely.

To keep up with what is happening in Accra and across Ghana, from a source you trust rather than a random forwarded message.
An online shopping app
Jumia and others deliver goods to your door, which saves a trip across town in traffic. Check the seller ratings before you buy.
The GRA taxpayer service
For your tax number and filing, now that the Ghana Card serves as your TIN. Useful once you are self-employed or running a business.
