You cannot hide your ambition and expect people to vote for you – Asiedu Nketiah’s 2028 Message

NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has hinted that he may announce his political intentions when the time comes, warning 2028 presidential aspirants that ambition-hiding is not an option.

No Ambition-Hiding Allowed in Politics

Speaking on JoyNews' PM Express on Tuesday, the veteran politician popularly known as General Mosquito said that politicians cannot conceal their ambitions and expect public support. "Ambition is a very useful thing in politics," he said. "If you are a politician and you have no ambition, you are in the wrong profession."

A Necessary Part of Politics

According to Asiedu Nketiah, ambition is essential in politics, but the timing and manner in which it is pursued matter. "You understand how you exercise that ambition is a challenge," he said, adding that he would clearly declare his intentions when the time is up for him to do so.

When Is the Right Time to Declare Ambition?

General Mosquito used pregnancy as an analogy to explain why political ambitions eventually become public. "How do you hide pregnancy?" he asked. "If you hide your intention to contest for a position, how do you campaign?" He maintained that once the appropriate moment arrives, he would openly communicate his decision.

Options Remain Open

Asiedu Nketiah stressed that several political options remain open to him, including continuing as national chairman, returning to another party position, going back to Parliament, or contesting for the presidency. "Sitting here, I can choose to become the next national organiser of the NDC," he said. "There is no law that bars me. I can choose to become a general secretary again, and contest with my brother and very good friend Fifi Kwetey."

No Position Ruled Out

The NDC National Chairman maintained that he has never closed the door on any political position. "No, no, no, no, no. I have never ruled any position out in my life," he said. "I'm not ruling any position out." This leaves many speculating about his potential plans for the 2028 general election.

What's Next for Asiedu Nketiah?

Asiedu Nketiah's comments have sparked renewed speculation about his potential bid for the NDC's presidential slot. Supporters and observers will have to wait until the right time for him to reveal his decision. With the 2028 general election on the horizon, one thing is certain: no ambition-hiding will be allowed in the NDC's presidential race.
