Defence Minister Kenneth Adjei Promises "Renewed Energy" in New Role
Ghana has a new Minister of Defence, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, who has pledged to approach his new assignment with renewed energy and a deep sense of duty. He was appointed by President John Dramani Mahama to lead the Ministry of Defence, a critical component of national security.
New Beginnings at the Ministry of Defence
Mr Adjei, who previously served as deputy minister of defence between 2015 and 2017 under the first Mahama administration, has now been entrusted with responsibility for Ghana's defence. In a message posted on X, he expressed gratitude to President Mahama for the confidence reposed in him and the opportunity to serve the country in his new role.
As he begins his new chapter of service, Mr Adjei called for collective effort, urging stakeholders to remain focused on delivering results for the country. He said, "The work continues. Let us keep our sleeves rolled up, remain focused and work even harder to deliver for Ghana. I call on all hands to be on deck as we embrace this new chapter of service together."
A Commitment to Service
Mr Adjei's tenure at the Works, Housing and Water Resources Ministry has been described as a period of service, learning, and collaboration. He commended the staff for their professionalism and commitment to the ministry's mandate. During his time at the Works, Housing and Water Resources Ministry, Mr Adjei was involved in government programmes covering infrastructure, housing, and water resources.
The new defence minister also thanked Ghanaians for their support, goodwill, and prayers, saying their encouragement remained an important source of strength in public service. He ended his message with a commitment to the country, declaring, "For Ghana. For Service. For Progress."
A Return to the Defence Ministry
Mr Adjei's appointment marks a return to the defence ministry for the minister, who previously served in the role between 2015 and 2017. His experience in the defence ministry will undoubtedly be an asset as he begins his new role. As he takes on his new responsibility at the Ministry of Defence, Mr Adjei said, "I do so with humility, renewed energy and a deep sense of duty.
