A fire engulfed a House Master's apartment at Leklebi Senior High School in the Volta Region, Ghana, on Tuesday, July 21, leaving six students with minor injuries. The students were attempting to put out the fire before firefighters arrived at the scene.
Fire Breaks Out at Leklebi SHS
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded swiftly to a distress call received at 4:21 p.m. A firefighting crew from the Hohoe Fire Station, under the supervision of Hohoe Municipal Fire Commander DO III Bismark Hosu-Porbley, was dispatched to the school immediately.
Firefighters arrived to find the House Master's top-floor apartment completely engulfed in flames. They promptly began firefighting operations and brought the blaze under control before it could spread to other parts of the school.
Students Injured While Trying to Extinguish Fire
Six male students sustained minor injuries while trying to put out the fire. They were among eight people who required medical attention following the incident. A male and a female occupant of the affected apartment also collapsed after learning of the fire. All eight individuals received treatment and were subsequently discharged from hospital.
