Kejelcha breaks men’s half marathon world record by 29 seconds

Yomif Kejelcha, a 29-year-old Ethiopian athlete, has shattered the men's half marathon world record, finishing the World Athletics road race in Buenos Aires on Sunday in an astonishing 56 minutes 51 seconds. This incredible feat came just months after he lost the record to Uganda's Jacob Kiplimo.

New Record, Old Rivalry

Kejelcha previously held the record with a time of 57:30, set in Valencia in October. However, Kiplimo ran 57:20 in Lisbon earlier this year, leaving Kejelcha with a 10-second deficit. But Kejelcha has now regained the top spot, pending official ratification, by knocking a whopping 29 seconds off Kiplimo's mark.

A Career of Records

This is not the first time Kejelcha has made history. He also holds the world record for a men's 10,000m road race and became one of the first men to run a sub-two-hour marathon in record-eligible conditions earlier this year. Finishing second behind Kenya's Sebastian Sawe in the London Marathon, Kejelcha clocked 1:59:30, just 11 seconds behind Sawe's record-breaking time of 1:59:20.

What's Next for Kejelcha?

As Kejelcha's incredible record-smashing performance sends shockwaves around the athletics world, fans and experts are left wondering what's next for this talented Ethiopian athlete. Will he continue to break records and push the boundaries of human performance? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain – Yomif Kejelcha is an athlete to watch.
