Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has accused the governing National Democratic Congress of hypocrisy and double standards regarding its recent nominations to the Supreme Court. [CONFIRM: Roger TD Wills statement details]
The Effutu MP raised the criticism following decisions by President John's administration to submit new judicial nominees for parliamentary approval.
Afenyo-Markin argued that the ruling party has taken a stance that completely contradicts its previous political positions on the size of the court.
He noted that while in opposition, the NDC repeatedly attacked the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for adding judges to the Supreme Court bench.
During that period, NDC figures claimed that expanding the court was unnecessary and damaged public confidence in the judiciary.
