The operation targets foreign nationals living in Ghana without valid documentation.
Authorities are currently holding the affected individuals in processing facilities as official arrangements begin to send them back to their home countries.

Directives from the interior ministry
The joint security exercise follows instructions from the Minister for the Interior, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka.
Muntaka issued directives to law enforcement agencies to clear major urban centres of unregistered non-citizens who beg on public roads.
