41 more Ghanaians evacuated from South Africa - Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Forty-one more Ghanaian nationals arrived in Accra from South Africa as the government expanded its emergency repatriation operation. The arrival brings relief to families following weeks of anti-foreigner violence and widespread immigration protests targeting foreign residents across South African cities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that this latest group of 41 returnees forms part of an ongoing state-led evacuation exercise. The ministry issued an official statement clarifying the details of the airlift operations, which were organized to rescue citizens trapped in volatile areas.

The ongoing evacuation effort gained momentum following the arrival of the first batch of Ghanaian evacuees on Wednesday, 27th May, 2026. That initial landing marked the formal start of the emergency extraction plan launched by state authorities in response to xenophobic attacks.
