In 2022, Abdul Karim Hakim was working as an apartment security guard in Dansoman, Accra, trying to raise money to pay for his tertiary education. Frank Anwelle met him at the complex and stepped in to pay his university costs.
The foundation covered Hakim's tuition, accommodation, and living expenses across four years at the University for Development Studies.
Hakim, a native of Walewale who is now in Level 400 studying for a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, shared his experience in Jirapa during the formal launch of the Anwelle Foundation.
The charity focuses on resource gaps in rural communities, running programs in education, youth skills, sustainable livelihoods, and rural growth.
