Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple gave $5,000 to the NDC Aldershot branch to support its drinking water project in Ghana. The donation came during the branch’s second anniversary event on September 28, which aimed to raise funds for potable water and other social projects back home.
Kwamigah-Atokple, a member of the Council of State and Patron of the NDC UK and Ireland Chapter’s Aldershot Branch, said he took on the patron role aware of its responsibilities. He sees it as a chance to deepen the branch’s impact and back projects that improve lives in Ghana.
The Aldershot Branch is part of the NDC’s diaspora network and was inaugurated by former President John Dramani Mahama. Kwamigah-Atokple described it as important for mobilising support for the party abroad and helping Ghana’s development.
He urged branch members to use their professional skills and business contacts in the UK to attract investment and create jobs in Ghana. He noted the diaspora’s access to expertise and potential investors could link Ghana to businesses wanting to grow and open operations.
Kwamigah-Atokple encouraged the NDC UK and Ireland Chapter to focus more on promoting investment in Ghana. He linked this to President Mahama’s Reset Agenda and the 24-Hour Economy policy, saying the diaspora should help find credible investment opportunities and support new businesses.
On the fundraising event, Kwamigah-Atokple praised the branch for dedicating its anniversary to raising money for clean drinking water and other social needs. He pointed out that access to clean water is still a challenge in many communities and is essential for health and dignity.
His $5,000 donation will aid the branch’s work to provide drinking water alongside other social efforts. He also said he plans to visit the NDC UK and Ireland Chapter soon to meet its leaders, take part in activities, and explore ways to support its growth.
During his visit, Kwamigah-Atokple intends to discuss how to attract investment to Ghana and strengthen the chapter’s work. He reaffirmed his support for the NDC and said advancing the party’s cause remains his priority.
He congratulated the Aldershot Branch members on their second anniversary and urged them to keep supporting Ghana through practical projects. He said their fundraising effort sets an example for how diaspora groups can contribute beyond politics.
Kwamigah-Atokple’s gift is a rare example of a high-profile figure combining political support with a clear focus on social development projects in Ghana. The branch’s water initiative aims to bring clean drinking water to communities where it remains scarce, a challenge many Ghanaians still face.
The NDC UK and Ireland Chapter’s activities show how diaspora groups link party politics with practical efforts to improve living conditions back home. Kwamigah-Atokple’s involvement signals a push to widen this role, bringing in investment and jobs alongside political support.
