King Promise’s ‘Can’t Tame Us’ becomes official Chelsea anthem

Ghanaian singer King Promise has released an official anthem for Chelsea Football Club, aiming to connect with supporters across Africa. The track, titled "Can’t Tame Us (Chelsea Anthem)," was unveiled in September and will feature at Chelsea matches during the 2026/27 season.

The song was written by King Promise as part of Chelsea’s efforts to strengthen ties with their African fanbase. The accompanying music video was filmed in Accra, with scenes shot at the Rent Paid Football Exhibition Tournament and Nungua SDA Park, where King Promise grew up playing football.

The Rent Paid tournament brought together Chelsea supporters from Ghana, including teams such as Team DWP, Team New Media, and Amen X Eleven. The event also served as the African launch of Chelsea’s new home kit. This setting allowed the club to engage directly with fans on the continent.

King Promise said returning to Nungua SDA Park was significant. “Returning to Nungua SDA Park was very important to me because that is where it all started for me. My love for football, spending time playing with my friends and connecting with community through football games was very special to me,” he said.

The music video combines footage from the tournament with shots of King Promise performing at Nungua SDA Park. Derrick Arthur directed the video, capturing the connection between football, community, and music.

Chelsea brand director Scott Fenton said the collaboration was “a natural fit” given King Promise’s connection with the club. “King Promise came to us with the idea for the track and, knowing how much Chelsea means to him, it felt like a really natural collaboration,” Fenton said. “This is about celebrating our fans in Africa and the culture around the club, and showing what Chelsea can mean beyond the 90 minutes.”

King Promise is a lifelong Chelsea supporter. He previously revealed the anthem is part of a broader partnership with the Premier League club, which includes a documentary filmed in Ghana. The partnership places his music at the centre of Chelsea’s engagement with supporters on the continent.

The release adds another chapter to King Promise’s relationship with Chelsea, linking his music to the club’s expanding presence across Africa.
