Vibes The Movie, a Ghanaian film by Nicholas “Big Ghun” Nartey, earned five nominations at the 2026 Regal Film Festival and Awards (REFFA). The nominations were announced on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the Accra Marriott Hotel, where Ghana’s National Film Authority unveiled the list, spotlighting African stories and talent.
The film, produced by PB Studios Africa, was nominated in the categories Best Comedy Film, Best Ghanaian Film, Best Debut Film, Achievement in Sound, and Achievement in Soundtrack. Nartey is credited alongside the film for the last three categories.
Vibes The Movie follows two friends who try to escape poorly paid and humiliating jobs by venturing into unpredictable business schemes. The narrative mixes comedy, rap, and emotional drama, touching on friendship, ambition, and the pressures of improving one’s life.
The cast includes Big Ghun himself, Jeffrey Nortey, Clemento Suarez, Aaron Adatsi, Feli Nuna, Giovani Caleb, and Krymi Music, among others. The film expands on characters Obolo Tui and Lil Pui, bringing Ghanaian life to the forefront.
This string of nominations adds to the film’s growing list of international recognitions. Earlier in 2026, Vibes The Movie won an Outstanding Achievement Award at the American Motion Pictures Festival in February, followed by Best Comic Film at the Ghana Comedy Awards. It also picked up nominations for Best African Film and Best Ghallywood Film at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival in Canada.
The film’s availability on Amazon Prime Video in the United States and the United Kingdom was announced days before the REFFA nominations. The release allows Ghanaian audiences abroad and international viewers another way to watch the film. PB Studios Africa indicated that a wider rollout is planned.
REFFA’s 2026 theme, “Reimagining Africa: Stories beyond Borders,” focuses on connecting African narratives with global audiences. The festival promotes filmmaking across Africa and its diaspora through awards, screenings, and industry discussions.
The nominations for Vibes The Movie reflect its range—from comedic storytelling and Ghanaian identity to its sound and musical elements. The recognition in sound and soundtrack categories points to the film’s musical dimension, complementing its narrative.
The film’s progress this year shows the growing international reach of Ghanaian cinema, with Big Ghun and PB Studios Africa extending the story’s presence beyond local screens.
