Oliver Glasner returned to Selhurst Park on Sunday with Nottingham Forest, only to watch his side squander an early lead and lose 3-1 to Crystal Palace. The match offered a sharp reversal for Glasner, who had steered Palace to FA Cup and Conference League success before departing at the end of last season and taking the Forest job over the summer.
Forest struck inside three minutes when Dan Ndoye fired a low finish past Palace goalkeeper Walter Benitez. The visitors controlled much of the first half, asserting themselves at Selhurst Park. Liam Delap then came close to doubling Forest’s advantage but was denied from point-blank range by Benitez.
Palace appeared disconnected in the opening 40 minutes, but the momentum swung dramatically just before half time. Daichi Kamada, featuring in his first Premier League season, scored his debut goal in the league by finishing off a composed team move four minutes from the break. Deep in stoppage time, Jefferson Lerma headed in a second to send Palace into the interval 2-1 up.
The turnaround continued after the break. Yeremy Pino sealed the win with a precise finish into the bottom corner, extending Palace’s lead to 3-1. The goal sparked chants from the Eagles’ fans directed at Glasner, who had departed the club only months earlier.
Late in the game, substitute Chris Wood threatened a Forest comeback but was thwarted by another fine save from Benitez.
With this second win of the Premier League season, Palace climbed to 12th place in the table. Nottingham Forest dropped to 14th. The result underscored the challenges Glasner faces in replicating his Palace success at Forest, especially on his first return to Selhurst Park as opposing manager.
