UK Rapper Yung Filly Denies Rape Allegations in Court

Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, a 30-year-old UK rapper known as Yung Filly, has taken the witness stand in a Western Australian court to deny allegations of rape. He is accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman in his hotel room after performing at a nightclub in Hillarys, a coastal suburb of Perth, in 2024.

Testimony in Court

Barrientos told the court that the "vibes were good" between him and the woman after they met at the concert venue. He had been in the VIP area while she leaned over the barrier from the general area. Barrientos said he had "fancied" the woman and recalled putting his hand on her waist, but denied touching her inappropriately.

He claimed he had not put his hands down her pants or touched her breast. However, the court heard previously that the pair had engaged in consensual sex before Barrientos turned violent and the woman told him to stop.

Background and Career

Barrientos is also known for his work with the YouTube collective Beta Squad and has appeared in the celebrity version of Bake Off on Channel 4. He has presented BBC Three shows and has a significant online presence with 1.8 million YouTube subscribers, three million followers on TikTok, and 2.4 million on Instagram. He has been on bail since being charged and was allowed to fly home to the UK in September for four months before returning to Western Australia ahead of his trial.

Charges and Trial

Barrientos is accused of six counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, and one count of strangulation. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. His security guard took the woman's phone away, which Barrientos said was "standard practice" to protect their privacy. The trial is ongoing.

The court proceedings have sparked widespread interest, particularly given Barrientos' significant online presence and high-profile career. The outcome of the trial will be closely watched by fans and the wider community. As the trial continues, it remains to be seen how the allegations against Barrientos will be resolved.
