MyJoyOnline.com took the top prize for Marketing-Oriented Online News Portal of the Year at the 37th Annual National Marketing Performance Awards. The event was held at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra on October 17, 2026, organised by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG).
The award recognised MyJoyOnline.com’s focus on quality journalism, public service, and storytelling that connects with audiences. CIMG’s citation praised the portal for delivering timely news and public-interest reports to digital audiences within Ghana and beyond.
“Myjoyonline.com has helped Multimedia Ghana Limited bring timely Ghanaian news and public-interest coverage to digital audiences,” the citation said.
The institute noted the site’s approach to cross-platform publishing and audience measurement. By reaching users through the channels they use daily, MyJoyOnline.com tailors its content to varied audience preferences.
CIMG singled out the portal’s coverage of pressing national issues. Its Poisoned for Gold investigation was cited as an example of journalism that promotes public awareness and accountability.
“Through your 24-hour newsroom operations, responsive audience engagement, and compelling coverage of critical national issues, including Poisoned for Gold, you continue to strengthen public awareness, promote accountability, and advance national discourse,” the citation read.
The portal also received credit for amplifying voices from underserved communities and recognising individuals whose contributions might otherwise go unnoticed. Initiatives such as the Joy Impact Makers Awards were mentioned as evidence of the portal’s community-centred journalism.
“Your sustained commitment to community-centred journalism and the recognition of unsung heroes exemplify the transformative power of the media in shaping society and driving positive change,” CIMG said.
Assessors praised MyJoyOnline.com’s digital publishing approach that combines news reporting, video, and online engagement. This blend addresses different audience groups and demonstrates a responsive news service.
“Our assessors described the cross-platform publishing as impressive with news and everyday information speaking to varied audience segments. Its blend of reporting, video and online conversation demonstrates the value of a responsive news service,” the citation stated.
