A joint team of Ghanaian soldiers and Forestry Commission officers moved into the Krokosua Hills Forest Reserve, burning 18 structures and destroying illegal mining machinery hidden under the canopy.
No arrests were made during the operation. The miners fled into the forest before security forces reached the camp.
The action at Krokosua Hills forms part of an ongoing national campaign to remove illegal gold miners from state-protected forest reserves.

Officers on the ground focused on clearing the physical setup used by the miners to live and work inside the reserve.
The joint team set fire to 18 makeshift structures that served as sleeping quarters, tool sheds, and fuel storage units for the illegal operation.
They also disabled and destroyed mining machinery
