Young Pioneers once entered the town of Seikwa in the Tain District of the Bono Region to take a young child from his home. They carried him to his relatives with a firm instruction from the state. His parents were required to enroll him in school under the government's free compulsory universal basic education policy.
That young child was Johnson Asiedu Nketiah. Today, he serves as the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress.
Speaking at the launch of Nkrumah Fest, Mr Asiedu Nketiah explained how that encounter in Seikwa shaped his life. He said the experience led him directly to study the writings of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah and work to preserve his legacy.
