Operatives from the Economic and Organised Crime Office tried and failed to arrest Manhyia South Member of Parliament Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah at the Accra High Court Complex on September 23, 2026. The lawmaker was at the court premises to represent a client when the confrontation took place.
Inusah Fuseini, a private legal practitioner and former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, addressed the incident on TV3's Key Points on Saturday, September 26. He said the legal protection given to lawmakers in Ghana has strict boundaries.
"The immunity attached to members of Parliament is not absolute, and so their rights as MPs cannot be above those of ordinary citizens unless they are on their way to Parliament," Fuseini said.
