St Augustine’s College became the first school to win back-to-back titles in the National Investment Quiz, holding off competition from Mfantsipim School, Prempeh College, and Corpus Christi Senior High School in the 2026 finale. The contest, held on a tense evening, swung multiple times before Augusco sealed victory with 40 points in the decisive final round.
Four schools entered the grand finale, but only one left with the trophy: St Augustine’s College, better known as Augusco, which had won the quiz the previous year. Mfantsipim School, Prempeh College, and Corpus Christi Senior High School pushed hard, keeping the scoreline tight through each round.
The opening round revealed the close contest ahead. Mfantsipim soared with 12 points, while both Prempeh College and Augusco trailed slightly on 10 points. Corpus Christi lagged behind on 5 points. By round two, Augusco edged ahead with 19 points, narrowly surpassing Mfantsipim’s 18 and Prempeh’s 16, with Corpus Christi on 11.
Round three tightened the race further. Corpus Christi and Prempeh each posted 13 points out of 15, while Mfantsipim and Augusco matched each other with 14. The scores after three rounds suggested no clear favourite, with the final round set to decide the winner.
The fourth round saw Augusco pull ahead decisively, reaching 40 points. Mfantsipim followed closely at 36, Prempeh College at 33, and Corpus Christi at 23. The riddle round that followed sharpened tensions. All four schools buzzed in on the first riddle but missed their attempts in turn, a rare collective misstep.
Corpus Christi recovered to claim the second riddle correctly. Augusco answered the third and fourth riddles, while Mfantsipim closed out the round with the final correct answer. Despite spirited performances from the other schools, Augusco’s steady accumulation of points across rounds determined the final outcome.
Organisers noted the increased level of competition this year reflected the quiz’s growth since it began. The National Investment Quiz aims to deepen financial literacy among Senior High School students by turning complex topics like stocks, bonds, and investment basics into subjects teenagers can confidently debate on stage.
The quiz has grown into a platform where students gain knowledge that extends beyond the competition itself. The 2026 finale offered sharp challenges and strategic play, with Augusco’s consistency ultimately edging out close rivals.
Mfantsipim School, Prempeh College, and Corpus Christi Senior High School delivered spirited efforts, each scoring strongly and displaying a grasp of investment concepts. Augusco’s consecutive wins mark a new benchmark for the contest, one that could influence how investment education is approached in future competitions.
