Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed has disclosed that several recruits have been dismissed from security services training institutions after investigations revealed that the academic records they presented for admission were forged or doctored.
The recruits had submitted altered West African Senior School Certificate Examination results during the recruitment process to secure entry into the state academies.
Subsequent background checks into the credentials exposed the discrepancies, leading to their immediate removal from the training facilities.
The West African Senior School Certificate Examination is the standard secondary school exit examination administered by the West African Examinations Council across English-speaking West Africa.
In Ghana, entry into public sector employment, tertiary institutions, and state security training programs requires valid passes in specified subjects at this examination level.
Security service enlistment draws thousands of young applicants across the country during every open recruitment cycle.
