Japan Motors MD Salem Kalmoni named CIMG Marketing Man of the Year

Salem Kalmoni, Managing Director of Japan Motors, took home the Marketing Man of the Year award at the 37th Annual National Marketing Performance Awards in Accra on Saturday, October 17, 2026. The ceremony took place at the Labadi Beach Hotel and was organised by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG).

Kalmoni’s win was announced as part of the official 2025 award winners’ list. The award recognised his contributions to marketing and business leadership within Ghana's competitive commercial landscape. Japan Motors, under his direction, has maintained a significant presence in the automotive sector, which the CIMG cited in their commendation.

The event brought together professionals across the marketing sector to celebrate performance and business development achievements. Abena Amoah, Managing Director of the Ghana Stock Exchange, was named Marketing Woman of the Year. Mavis Frimpong, who leads Corporate Communications, Marketing and Brands at Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited, earned the Marketing Practitioner of the Year award. Thomasina Tetey, Import Sales Manager at MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, was named Marketing Student of the Year.

The CIMG awards have a history spanning over three decades, with this being the 37th annual ceremony. They recognise individual and organisational excellence in marketing, aiming to promote effective business strategies and consumer engagement in Ghana’s evolving market.

Kalmoni’s award follows a year of strategic campaigns and leadership initiatives that expanded Japan Motors’ market reach. The ceremony drew a wide range of marketing professionals, reflecting the sector’s growing influence on Ghana’s economic development.

The event did not include speeches or quotes from winners in the official release, focusing instead on the announcement of honours. The CIMG continues to position marketing as a critical factor in organisational growth and consumer interaction across industries.

This year’s list of recognised professionals reflects a diverse set of industries, from finance and shipping to automotive sales, illustrating the broad scope of marketing within Ghana’s business environment.
